April Harris-Britt, Ph.D., has been elected to serve a 3-year term on the Board for Professional Affairs (BPA) for the American Psychological Association (APA). The Board of Professional Affairs is responsible for recommending and implementing APA policy, standards, and guidelines for the profession of psychology; maintaining relationships with other professional organizations and groups appropriate to its mission; recognizing contributions to the profession of psychology through awards and honors; proposing to the association ways to enhance the profession of psychology; and fostering the application of psychological knowledge to promote public welfare. Dr. Harris-Britt is a clinical psychologist and core faculty at Fielding Graduate University in the Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program. She is a powerful role model and mentor to many due to her visibility with her work with the American Psychological Association and as a highly respected clinician and researcher. Dr. Harris-Britt is “all in” for her students. She has developed a vibrant private practice where students have received invaluable clinical training, and she has served many underserved families with important assessment and psychotherapy support. She has a vitality for life and work and is always generous with her time and wisdom. Indeed, she is a role model for faculty and students.
