A Founding Dean Asks for Scholarship Support on 91st Birthday

On January 7, I turn 91. My Birthday wish is to raise $10,000 for a Fielding scholarship that supports student research in organizational and social change — a lifetime passion of mine.

The Bushnell Endowed Scholarship for Organizational and Social Change was created through the generosity of my colleagues, former students, family, and friends like you 10 years ago. The scholarship enables students to develop the knowledge to help organizations and communities thrive in today’s complex world.

What personally inspires me to support Fielding and the scholarship in my name is that the research by our students has practical applications and truly ignites positive social change. For example, Barton Buechner, PhD, a 2012 scholarship recipient, wrote his dissertation on mentoring student veterans in post 9/11 world. Buechner examined the narratives of successful student veterans and the role their mentors played in their transition from military service to academia.

Join me in celebrating my birthday and the 10th Anniversary of the Bushnell Endowed Scholarship by making a donation to Fielding. Thank you!

You can contribute by using the enclosed envelope or making a donation online. When donating online, select “Bushnell Scholarship” under the Gift Designation option.

With gratitude,

Don D. Bushnell, PhD

Dr. Don Bushnell was founding dean of Fielding’s School of Human Development, mentoring faculty for many years, and a co-creator of the Center for Innovation in the Nonprofit Sector. He is now a distinguished faculty emeritus and an active contributor to Fielding’s Institute for Social Innovation.
