AnthonyBeebeAnthony Beebe, a doctoral student in Fielding’s School of Leadership Studies, has been appointed president of Santa Barbara City College (SBCC), where he begins work on July 1.

Currently president of San Diego City College, Beebe has an EdD and is now working towards his PhD.

“Fielding Graduate University’s Ph.D. program in Human and Organizational Development has been perfect for me as a practitioner-scholar,” he said. “My dissertation focuses on participatory governance in California’s community colleges, which is directly applicable to my work. I’m thrilled to be the new superintendent/president of Santa Barbara City College and look forward to finding ways we can build stronger connections to Fielding.”

Beebe replaces retiring president Lori Gaskin at the college. Situated in the same town as Fielding’s headquarters. SBCC was named the nation’s top community college in 2013 by the Aspen Institute.

“One of the nation’s finest colleges will soon welcome one of the nation’s finest community college leaders,” said Fielding President Katrina Rogers. “Selecting Dr. Anthony Beebe to serve as president of Santa Barbara City College continues a long tradition of excellent leadership for an educational jewel in our community. We are excited to have him serve as a leader in Santa Barbara, and look forward to welcoming him this summer.”
