Workshop at Summer Session 2018

In 2014, we established The Coordinated Management of Meaning (CMM) Scholarship Fund in the spirit of deep appreciation of Barnett Pearce, PhD, a Fielding faculty member and a distinguished leader-scholar in the field of communication.

Barnett Pearce

This endowed scholarship fund was established thanks to generous Fielding alum Pauline Albert, PhD, and additional major gift pledges from Fielding alum Ilene Wasserman, PhD, and Kim Pearce, Barnett’s wife and the cofounder of the CMM Institute. We are grateful to all supporters who contributed to the Fund!

When Pauline made a major contribution to establish the CMM Fund, she shared with us: “Studying CMM with Barnett was a transformational experience for me, and I believe that this gift deserves to be paid forward.”

If you are attending Summer Session 2018 in Chicago, please join the workshop “Creating New Lifewords: The Essence of Communicative Leadership” on July 20 from 4 to 6 pm. The workshop discussion will be focused around the CMM practice.

As it continues to grow, the CMM Fund will be used to support student, faculty, and alumni research that advances theory and/or practices in the fields of communication, especially as it relates to CMM.

If you want to help grow the endowment so that more scholarships can be awarded to Fielding students year over year, you can make a secure donation online. Simply select “Coordinated Management of Meaning Scholarship” under the Gift Designation option.

If you have any questions about the Fund, contact Elena Nicklasson, Director of Development, at enicklasson@fielding.edu or 805-898-2926.
