Faculty Honored by the prestigious Norwegian Academy of Science and Arts

Fielding Faculty Fellow Rich Ling recently had the honor of being recognized as a member of the prestigious Norwegian Academy of Science and Arts (Det Norske Vitenskaps Akademi). Ling was honored for his work in understanding the social consequences of mobile communication. Among other things, he has studied how we use mobile devices to microcoordinate social interaction, including in international settings. Ling has written several books in this area including The mobile connection and Taken for grantedness. He has recently retired from his endowed chair at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
