To stimulate positive learning experiences for leaders, this presentation by Asma Batool, MA, PCC integrates the research in neuroscience and mindfulness and expands understanding for VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity) challenges to be transformed to opportunities for cognitive peak performance. Coaching relationships characterized by curiosity, trust, and high level of acceptance make it easier for leaders to partner with the coach and enter the zone of discomfort to take advantage of the complexity and ambiguity, rather than struggle with it. A study of neural pathways illuminate the patterns of our perception as they were laid down neurologically in our formative years, and formed from earlier experiences. Mindfulness helps with improved attention to activate positive neural states for lasting changes to mental and emotional patterns of behavior. Coaches can support the client to nurture plastic mindset with mindful attention to reinterpret our reactions to change so that fresh perspectives emerge to lead more effectively in the VUCA world.
