Scholarly & Professional Interests:

  • Identity construction, social and structural inequality, social recognition, systems of oppression, gender inequity, organizational readiness for inclusion, transformational learning and critical pedagogy.
  • Constructions of self-esteem and identity development, the interplay of media on constructing images and ideology of beauty, and the impact of inequality upon the health, development, and well-being of black women.
  • Research specialties include hermeneutics, narrative analysis, and qualitative inquiry.
  • Diversity & social justice
  • Human development within systems of oppression
  • Critical self-reflective dialogue
  • Spirituality  and consciousness
