A message from Dean Charles McClintock, PhD The School of Human and Organization Development (HOD) offers a path to scholarship and lifelong learning for professionals wishing to expand their knowledge, research skills and reflective practice. HOD programs range from doctoral and masters degrees to corporate and nonprofit training, continuing education certificates, and action research initiatives. Our students are self-directed adults who work in a variety of settings: business, government, and nonprofit organizations, as well as community development and public policy venues in the U.S. and abroad. We serve a wide range of individual and agency clients through our Institute for Social Innovation and research initiatives such as Creative Longevity. Collaborative learning among students, faculty, and alumni is a hallmark of HOD. Our flagship doctoral programs in Human Development and Human and Organizational Systems combine small study groups, individual mentoring, and workshops and seminars. Our masters programs in Organizational Management and Organization Development use online learning cohorts for intensive peer and student-faculty interaction. Our certificate and training programs tailor virtual and face-to-face learning options to the needs of professional, corporate and agency clients. A rich Internet environment with a full online library supplements all these programs. Since its inception in 1979, HOD has emphasized the interaction of human behavior and social systems drawing from social sciences, professional fields, and the humanities. This interdisciplinary stance is the strength of our legacy and a challenge for our future. We seek knowledge in the interplay of research and practiceknowledge that informs action relevant to specific settings, enlightens new theoretical insight, and strengthens the human condition in a global future. We welcome your interest in our programs and hope that you will join us in our lifelong learning community. Charles McClintock, PhD |
