Charlene Teters,Keynote Speaker at ELC’s National Session 2007 in Tucson, AZ
Charlene Teters provoked by racial and social injustices endured by American Indians, has served as a lightning rod for change. Her work has led to progress in the United States and Canada. In Central America her words and thoughts are being repeated by Indian peoples involved in their own struggles for human rights.

Keynote address, If Not You, Then Who? is a personal story of the struggle against the Chief Illiniwek mascot at the University of Illinois which then became the catalyst for the national debate. Recently the University of Illinois has stopped the use of the dancing mascot under pressure by NCAA rulings, is it the end of a controversial era?
