What is the Institutional Review Board?
The Institutional Review Board (IRB) at Fielding Graduate University
reviews all research with human participants conducted by members of
the Fielding Graduate University according to the guidelines set forth
by the Office
for Human Research Protections (OHRP) and Fieldings
institutional policies. Research must receive IRB approval or
exemption before recruitment or data collection begins.
Applications are reviewed on a monthly basis and must
be received no later than 5 p.m. of the first business day of the month
in which review is desired.
Who can be a research participant?
In social behavioral, organizational, psychological, and educational
research, participants come from many diverse backgrounds depending
upon the topic being studied and may include young children, school
aged students/children, adult students, employees, members of other
cultures, women, men, and You!
What do you do if youve been asked to participate
in a research study?
Ask questions and read the study materials so that you are well informed
about what the study is about and what the researcher is asking you
to do. You have the right to know about the purpose of the study, the
study procedures, any risks or discomforts and benefits that you might
expect, and also to ask questions or to withdraw from the study at any
time.
