Psychological Assessment Labs (PALs)

Psychological assessment refers to the psychological appraisal of individuals, groups and other human systems. Historically, it has been one of the main specialties within the general field of clinical psychology. Psychological assessment may be implicit or explicit; the clinician's work is best served when her/his diagnostic procedures and processes are explicit. Students obtain training in this area by developing a plan and then fulfilling it through a series of lab courses offered at national sessions, research sessions and in local clusters.

Each student is required to complete a minimum of 14 days of labs totaling 105 hours. Labs are offered on a variety of topics including objective and projective personality characteristics, intellectual abilities, clinical interviewing, report writing, integrative assessment practice and cultural sensitivity issues.

A complete list PALS is available on the list of graduation requirements.
