Media psychology applies concepts and theories from the field of psychology to develop an integrated, scholarly approach to the study of media and its effects on individuals, groups, and society. Sensory and cognitive psychology, systems theory, human development, motivation and learning, and communications theory are all overlapping and synergistic specialties with implications for media psychology. Career Opportunities The Media Psychology program is grounded in psychology and its focus is on applying psychological theories to the study of media effects on individual behavior and social change. The program serves scholar/practitioners interested in advancing their understanding of media, human behavior and the human experience. Professionals from many fields will benefit from a Fielding doctorate in Media Psychology including: writers, producers, programmers, designers, directors, artists, cinematographers, public relations and advertising specialists, physicians, attorneys, telemedicine personnel, clinical and counseling psychologists and those interested in public policy, entertainment, commerce and education. Media Psychology is a non-clinical program and is not intended to provide the requirements for licensure. Anyone interested in Clinical Psychology should apply to that program. |
