Fielding Graduate University – Respecialization in Clinical Psychology Post-doctoral Certificate – Delivery Method

 Delivery Method

Fielding’s Respecialization in Clinical Psychology post-doctoral certificate program combines face-to-face student-faculty meetings at local, regional, and national events with independent study and online learning in real time (synchronous) and any time (asynchronous). Our vibrant learning community supports our students with small group faculty-student interactions that are collegial, collaborative, and respectful.  These blended, distributed learning elements combine to help you achieve your educational and professional goals.

Access to Online Resources

You have access to online seminars and forums, and our robust online library resources through the Fielding Education Link and Information eXchange (FELIX). Online participation is a necessary component, and FELIX training is provided during the New Student Orientation-Online, with further help available at National and Research Sessions or using online tutorials.

Our electronic tools and resources support diverse activities such as:

  • Online library filled with databases, books, and journals in your field, and a supportive library services staff.
  • Electronic seminars where faculty teach knowledge area courses and you contribute academic papers and discussion
  • Collaborative research that enables faculty to supervise students with common research interests who live in different parts of the country
  • Group discussion forums that enable students from each cluster to communicate with one another on academic, administrative and personal topics of interest

Local Cluster Group Meetings

Students meet regularly with their local faculty advisor in small learning groups called clusters. Activities include formal academic seminars and presentations, clinical presentations & discussions, research training, and informal networking and socializing. Your local cluster provides you with an intensive and personal learning environment.

The nature of the cluster meetings and activities varies according to the needs of its members. To meet the group's learning needs, each cluster and its faculty advisor plans an annual schedule that includes activities available to all students, such as faculty led seminars, presentations by Associate Deans and faculty visiting from other clusters, and presentations by local guests. You are encouraged to attend regularly.

National, Research, and Clinical Sessions

You use session activities to advance your progress in the program, and you are encouraged to attend as needed.   Structured activities provide a variety of small group seminars and individual meeting times.  These events lay the groundwork for mastering curriculum and completing certificate requirements as well as helping integrate learning within and across the program components.

National sessions are week-long events held in January and July, and research sessions and clinical sessions take place in November and April in various locations throughout the United States. Sessions involve faculty, students, and alumni from different programs and schools within Fielding, and they are a chance to reconnect with friends made during your NSO or at previous sessions.
