The Health Psychology concentration prepares clinical psychologists to interpret current research and integrate knowledge from the social sciences and behavioral medicine into a broad conceptual model of health and health systems.
- Develop interventions to help in the prevention of and adjustment to physical illness
- Promote health and healthy work environments through intervention and education
- Integrate elements of psychology, biology, sociology, economics, anthropology, medicine, and human ecology into health enhancement programs
In addition to the required courses within the degree curriculum, the Health Psychology concentration curriculum for Clinical Ph.D. students consists of the following requirements:
- PSY 726*, 731, 732, 751*
- 4 credits chosen from PSY 735-740*
- PSY 566
- Dissertation must be on a Health Psychology topic
- Internship must include a major rotation or its equivalent in Health Psychology
*Course must emphasize a health psychology topic in the area.
