Criteria ––> Am I eligible to apply?
To be eligible for the Doctor of Education program, you must have the following:
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university or an equivalent international degree
- Excellent English reading and writing skills
- Evidence of ability to complete doctoral level work
Evaluation ––> What does the Admission Committee look for?
The Admission Committee evaluates the following:
- Critical thinking and writing skills
- Ability to function as an independent learner
- Professional goals
- Professional, academic, and/or community achievements, activities, and contributions
- Ability to utilize academic, professional, and community resources to achieve learning objectives
- Maturity and self-awareness as expressed in autobiography
- Computer literacy, familiarity with electronic databases, and access to e-mail and the Internet
- Familiarity with research design and data analysis
- Evidence of realistic planning for the time and resources to complete the program

Decisions ––> How will the admission decision be made?
Once you have submitted your complete application portfolio, you will be notified by e-mail that it is ready for review. The Admission Committee reviews all completed application portfolios two times a year to consider each applicant’s potential as a Fielding Graduate University student. The Admission Committee decides which applicants will be accepted for the next New Student Orientation (NSO). You will receive an e-mail and a letter indicating the committee’s decision.
Enrollment ––> How do I accept an offer of admission?
If accepted, you will receive a link via e-mail to our online enrollment Web site containing your admission agreement and tuition payment forms, travel and accommodations information, and orientation schedule. You will need to confirm your attendance about five weeks prior to the online orientation session by returning your admission agreement and making an initial tuition and NSO fee payment.
