This program introduces the practitioner to the basic skills of visual mapping, such as ways of organizing information and activating visual language. Students will learn about information hierarchies, basic map structures, tools, symbols, hand lettering, effective coloring, and other communication necessities such as listening for the essence in content, and connecting to a group or individuals we work with. This class builds from theory to intensive practice in professional applications including the development of a dossier/portfolio. A face-to-face seminar will launch the learning experience, which will be continued and supported as an online engagement for the rest of the term culminating in a self-defined intervention (corporate, organizational, community based—i.e. service learning project).
Delivery Method: online plus 1 two-day face-to-face session Jan. 18-19, 2010, additional $525
