OMD-649 Evidence Based Coaching Theory, 4 semester credits
Evidence Based Coaching connects the most effective tools, strategies, and coaching orientations with theory and research from a variety of disciplines. Participants in this course will study theories and their coaching applications from a range of disciplines, including psychology, communication, leadership, organizational studies, theories of adult learning and adult development, and theories of culture, gender, and race.

OMD-653 Evaluation and Use of Assessments in Coaching, 4 semester credits
Assessments of individual personality, styles and abilities are a critical component of effective coaching engagements. Used appropriately, the right assessment is a key part of the consulting intervention or the coaching conversation. In this course, participants will learn to evaluate the many assessments encountered in both consulting and coaching, and determine the effectiveness and appropriateness of these instruments for a range of coaching and consulting situations.

OMD-657 Action Research for Coaches, 4 semester credits
In this course participants will learn how to critically evaluate their work as coaches or consultants. Action research is an ongoing evaluative process of collaboratively defining and researching a coaching or consulting issue. Being able to systematically document the efficacy of a coaching or consulting action increases both performance and credibility. The curriculum includes concepts of action research, how to design an assessment, and how to document outcomes.

Appreciative Coaching, which is rooted in Appreciative Inquiry (AI), is one of the most successful change efforts currently used in business and organizations. Based on AI concepts, world-renowned authors Ann Clancy and Jacqueline Binkert (Appreciative Coaching: A Process for Change) will instruct participants in this exciting new way of coaching.

Money is a means of exchange. It reflects the core values of the individual or the institution using it. In this course we will explore our habitual patterns of financial exchange, and create intentional exchanges that truly reflect what is important to you and how we, as a community, want to shape our lives and our world. You will acquire a new understanding of the movement of money—and our involvement in that movement. The skills learned in this course will help you observe your current patterns with money and create goals and new patterns that are grounded in your genuine intentions. It will also help you transform your awareness of the power and consequences of money movement in the community and in our world.

In these financial times, it can be especially daunting to create a business “from scratch”. This course provides you with the nuts and bolts of putting together a thriving coaching practice: Designing a business plan; developing marketing outlets; create a niche; and effective networking. The course is taught by professionals who have successfully created their own coaching practice and are excited to share their experiences with others.

OMD-674 Coaching and Women: Issues for Coaches and Clients, 4 semester credits
Coaches - both men and women - are finding themselves coaching an increasing number of women clients, as their numbers at higher levels of organizations are increasing. The dynamics of coaching women are explored in this course — including theories of gender and gender relationships, adult development, stress management, and workplace balance. The primary focus of the course will be the application of these theories to the coaching engagement, from point of view of the practitioner and the client. Participants will learn how to skillfully manage gender-related issues that may come up for their women clients. They will also gain valuable insights about themselves as coaches working with women clients.

OMD-679 Leadership and Organizational Coaching, 4 semester credits
This course examines theories and skills used in coaching executives within an organizational context. By analyzing coaching case studies, participants will learn coaching strategies for organizational change; how to train managers as coaches; and the process for linking coaching to business strategy. In addition, participants will gain the ability to develop and modify one’s coaching practice and to incorporate evidence based theories as they relate to organizational practices. The course emphasizes the importance of gaining greater self-awareness working either as an external or internal coach within an organization.

OMD-687 Individual Coaching, 4 semester credits
Emotional Intelligence, Positive Psychology, and Behavioral Therapy techniques are three of the most common and popular methodologies employed by coaches to affect individual change. In this course, participants will learn both the theories attached to these techniques and specific strategies for implementing them in a coaching engagement. In addition, theories of humanistic psychology and adult development are discussed in the context of coaching. Attention to the role of mindfulness and presence for the coach is an integral component of this course.
