Santa Barbara, CA (October 5, 2005) -Dr. Erik Gregory from Harvard has joined Fielding Graduate University as a full time faculty member in the School of Psychology concentrating in Media Psychology. Dr. Gregory specializes in positive psychology, a field that examines healthy human functioning such as courage, hope, optimism, and happiness. He has worked internationally as a psychotherapist and has consulted with leaders in higher education, media, and business to improve personal and professional functioning. "This new faculty position reflects the growth and interest in Media Psychology and is a testimony to this much needed and popular curriculum," said Ronald Giannetti, PhD , Dean of the School of Psychology. "Dr. Bernard Luskin, Fielding EVP and Director of the Media Psychology program, created this unique program and it is the only one of its kind in the country," Giannetti added. Dr. Gregory received his PhD from the University of
Wisconsin-Madison in Counseling Psychology and his masters degree from
the Harvard Graduate School of Education. He has held appointments with
the National Cancer Institute in Hawaii, the Spencer Foundation, and the
University of Chicago. He completed his clinical internship at the Tavistock
Institute in London where he worked as a consultant to the entertainment
industry and a leader in the treatment of refugee children suffering from
trauma. Dr. Gregory is a clinical associate at the Harvard Medical School,
Department of Psychiatry. He has lectured at Oxford and Cambridge Universities
on creativity and media and education. Dr. Gregory is based in Boston.
