For Immediate Release August 16, 2006, Santa Barbara, CA Norman Harris, PhD, has been appointed to the doctoral faculty of the School of Educational Leadership & Change, it was announced by Judy Witt, PhD, Dean of the School.
Dr. Harris brings a strong background in research, teaching, curriculum development, Black studies and literature, as well as writing and distance education. With his experience as a doctoral faculty member at Union Graduate Institute and University, and the University of Cincinnati, Dr. Harris is well prepared to work in Fieldings dispersed learning environment. He has mentored many mid-career students in their doctoral study and dissertation research.
He is founder of One World Archives (OWA), a nonprofit corporation that makes history relevant through comprehensive educational programs in the areas of public history, blended and online education, and media. They accomplish their mission through partnerships with museums, archives, educational institutions, community groups and individuals.
An author of many publications, Dr. Harriss most recent titles are: Black To the Future: Black Studies and Network Nommo, in Sage Publications Handbook of Black Studies; Interpretive Notes for W.E.B. DuBois Souls of Black Folk, Simon & Shuster; The Sixties: A Black Chronology The Black Resource Center.
Dr. Harris earned his PhD in English at Indiana University. He resides in Atlanta. Founded in 1974, Fielding Graduate University, headquartered
