Projecting Cost of Education

Cost of Education (COE) is an average number of what it may cost for you to attend Fielding Graduate University for one year. Your personal choices will affect how much you really spend on your COE. As our students live in different economic areas of the world, costs will vary. The only predictable cost of education is tuition. As at any school, there are additional educational expenses which vary from student to student, depending upon personal circumstances.

Fielding Graduate University uses these standard budgets to estimate the average student's annual COE during a twelve month period. Specific information on tuition costs is listed in "Financial Policies & Information" in the section entitled "Tuition Information". This budget is used for determining eligibility for student loans and immigration visas, as well as other purposes. This budget is an estimate of the average cost based on maximum enrollment with no discounts. Your actual cost of education may vary.

Understanding the COE

What do all these terms stand for? They are the costs for the support of your academic work. For example…

Tuition: This is the annual tuition for your program.

Books & Supplies: This can include books, journal subscriptions, literature searches and communication expenses, as well as costs for office supplies, telephone, computer and e-mail equipment and charges, copying and postage.

Computer: Some of our programs require that a student bring a laptop to their orientation session. If so, that cost is included in the cost of education budget for that program. Students may also need to upgrade their computer systems during their tenure at Fielding.

Room & Board: This can include rent, mortgage payments, food, etc. These are costs that you would incur whether or not you are attending Fielding Graduate University.

Transportation: This can include airfare, car rentals, public transportation, car payments, gas, etc., all in relation to cluster or learning community meetings. Annual travel and accommodation expenses vary depending upon the locations and the numbers of events a student chooses to attend, and the requirements of your program.

Session Costs: This line is based on annual attendance at the minimum number of face-to-face sessions as recommended by the program. It includes the registration fee, meals, accomodations, travel, and incidentals.

Personal & Miscellaneous: This can include anything that comes up in your daily life.

Supervisory Fees: Our Neurospychology certificate program has a separate supervision fee that is included in the cost of education budget.

Adjustments to the COE

Adjustments to a specific student’s financial aid budget may be used to recognize individual situations related to the cost of attendance such as:

  • Living expenses significantly higher or lower than standard student budgets;
  • Books and supplies in excess of established standards;
  • Additional session travel expenses, graduation fees, not charged to student body as a whole;
  • Dependent care or disability related expenses not considered in the student aid budget.

Documentation to support the changes made must be present in the student’s financial aid file.
