Conclave Leadership Academy
This continuing education experience is designed to enhance the preparation of a cadre of STEM women of color for academic leadership roles in colleges and universities throughout the United States. Housed within Fielding’s Marie Fielder Center for Democracy, Leadership and Education, the program is woven into the Annual STEM Women of Color Conclave, focusing on the cognitive aspects of leadership.
With funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF), Fielding Graduate University partners with the Society of STEM Women of Color, Inc. (SSWOC) to offer professional development opportunities to broaden participation in STEM. This 10-hour professional development leadership program runs in parallel with the Conclave.
Fielding Graduate University, upon the recommendation of the Marie Fielder Center, will award ten (10) Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to each individual who participates in the entire 10-hour program and completes assessments at the beginning and end of the program.
Planning is underway for the 2019 Conclave Leadership Academy, which will be held June 7-10, 2019 in Chantilly, VA.
The Conclave Leadership Academy will consist of presentations, group discussions, case studies and other activities for STEM women of color in leadership. Speakers and panelists will represent a diversity of experiences and leadership perspectives – many with national reputations in leadership. It will be delivered by nationally prominent individuals with documented knowledge and experience in the art, science and delivery of effective leadership in higher education in STEM academic units and in colleges and universities throughout the United States.
Up to 50 individuals will receive scholarships to cover the Continuing Education Fee of $200. The Conclave Leadership Academy is also offered to general Conclave attendees at the same cost.
We will begin accepting applications in March 2019
Applicants must be registered for the STEM Women of Color Conclave.
