OMD Frequently Asked Questions

 

  1. Is Fielding accredited?
    Yes. Fielding Graduate University is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

  2. What distinguishes Fielding's OMD program from other management or MBA programs?
    Fielding prides itself in collaborative learning that fosters new ways of leading and working. The OMD program prepares students for challenging and advanced work related to organizational change and transition. The program focuses on the challenges and practices for the virtual, networked organization and the related issues of leadership, culture, motivation and organizational learning across all systems and relevant intercultural contexts.

    Fielding’s OMD Master’s degree is unique among organizational management and development and MBA programs. Fielding emphasizes integration of human development and organizational theory and practices to meet the challenges of today’s emerging cultures and global markets. Unlike MBA programs, courses in finance, accounting, marketing and operations are not offered.

  4. When can I apply?
    Prospective students may apply anytime during the year and begin the program in January, May, or September. Please see the Admission section for application materials, deadlines and start dates.

  5. Does Fielding offer financial aid? [top]
    Yes. Fielding has many financial aid opportunities for our students.  You can find more information on our Financial Aid web page.

  6. Does Fielding work with students who have a tuition reimbursement through their employer?
    Yes. Fielding Graduate University is familiar with tuition reimbursement processes and conforms to most corporate and organizational policies. You should check your company's tuition reimbursement policy for eligibility and procedures, and we will work to accommodate your needs.

  7. What is the cost of the program?
    For details on OMD tuition, please go to Tuition Information.   Books are approximately $150 to $200 per course. Students may order books on their own, or online through Fielding’s affiliation with Amazon.com.  

  8. Can I receive transfer credit for previous work completed at another institution?
    Yes. We accept up to 8 units of transfer credit toward the MA degree and 4 units of transfer credit can be applied to the OMD certificate. Please see our Transfer Credit Procedure.
     
  9. Is there an articulation agreement with the PhD program in Human & Organizational Development?
    Yes. Courses taken in the OMD program may count toward certain Knowledge Areas in the Human & Organizational Development PhD program. Interested individuals must apply and be accepted to the HOD doctoral program.
