The Learning Plan, Knowledge Area Assessments, Portfolio Review, Comprehensive Assessment and the Dissertation collectively make up the formal curriculum for the doctoral degrees. Read more about these areas in the section called: How it Works. Doctoral competency is developed across three domains: theory, research and practice. The structure of a Knowledge Assessment (overview, in-depth and applied) supports developing these competencies as well as the core content of the area under study. Rather than a lock-step progression of study, sixteen knowledge areas provide students a rich opportunity to work at the intersections of interdisciplinary domains, all of which impact individual, organizational and societal change processes. Given this diversity and complexity of the curriculum, students in consultation with their faculty mentors can design their study specific to their own emerging interests and professional goals.
