of Training and Development for Home Savings of America's nationwide banking
network.
Her work experience includes applied expertise in training
and organizational development, human resources, mergers and acquisitions,
marketing, sales and operations management in the pharmaceutical and financial
services industries. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Theology
from Georgetown University and two Masters Degrees from Fielding Graduate
University, one in Organization Design and Effectiveness, the second in
Human Development. Cindy is currently earning her Ph. D. in Human and
Organization Systems with Fielding.
Cindy's current research focuses on Meaningful Work over
the Life Course. Her recently awarded Creative Longevity and Wisdom Student
Fellowship will support her dissertation study to explore the ways people
describe the experience of meaningful work and how these descriptions
of meaning change as they age. Using a qualitative research approach employing
narrative inquiry through a semi-structured interview process, she plans
to conduct a retrospective study to examine the journeys of 15-20 research
participants age 60+ as they describe the meaning of their work experiences
in early, mid, and late-career.
This research builds upon the pilot study conducted as part
of her masters' thesis on Meaningful Work and Performance. Her results
indicate that meaningful work is personally defined, and socially acknowledged
and reinforced. She also found an indication that those engaged in meaningful
work perceive their own level of performance to be above average. Other
research interests include adult development over the life course, the
role of spirituality and faith in life purpose and choice, human agency,
training and development, organizational behavior and change, and adult
learning and development with a focus in on-line learning in graduate
education.
Cindy and her family live in Southern California where she
enjoys life as a wife of a terrific and supportive husband and a mother
of two great sons.
