John
L. Bennett, Ph.D., is assistant professor, chair of the communication
department and director of graduate studies in organizational communication
at Queens University of Charlotte. In addition, he is president of Lawton
Associates an organization development consulting firm that specializes
in helping individuals and organizations prepare for, excel through, and
improve from change. Dr. Bennett is an executive coach, consultant, and
speaker/trainer. John is author of numerous articles about communication,
leadership, and change management as well as author of two books: Leading
the Edge of Change and The Essential Network.
Between 1980-1997, Dr. Bennett held a variety of senior
leadership positions with the American Red Cross including CEO of regional
biomedical services centers in Nebraska and Michigan. He earned a BS degree
from Mars Hill College, a Master's degree in public affairs from the University
of North Carolina at Greensboro as well as a Master's degree and Ph.D.
in human and organizational systems from Fielding Graduate University.
He is a graduate and former faculty member of Corporate Coach U. John
is qualified to administer a variety of assessments including Benchmark
360, DiSC, Herrmann Brain Dominance Inventory, and Myers Briggs Type Indicator.
He earned the prestigious Certified Management Consultant (CMC) designation
through the Institute of Management Consultants and the Professional Certified
Coach (PCC) credential through the International Coach Federation.
Dr. Bennett is an active member of several professional
associations including Academy of Management, Institute of Management
Consultants, International Coach Federation, International Communication
Association, and OD Network.
Bennett's doctoral research is centered on the life and
works of well-known and well-recognized organizational development scholar-practitioners.
Additional research interests relate to the professionalization of executive
coaching including competencies and coaching styles.
