In on-line seminars and
lively scholar-practitioner dialogues, explore key questions about
dialogue, deliberation and public engagement.
- What innovative models should you use to engage others?
- Under what circumstances do different approaches work best?
- What are effective ways to name and frame public issues?
- What should you do with adversarial groups or toxic relationships?
- How can you turn talk into action?
- When should you involve key decision-makers?
- How do you involve large groups and entire communities?
The program is unique in its attention to the continuum of dialogue and deliberation approaches within which to work and its emphasis on mastery through:
- Learning to diagnose situations and make distinctions among various ways of working;
- Developing a range of skills relevant to dialogue and deliberation (strategic design, naming and framing, facilitation, moderation, diagnostic skills, and critical self reflection); and
- Applying scholarship through reflective practice in order to better understand ourselves and the larger systems in which we work.
- A collaborative learning experience with peers
