Ethnic Minority Dissertation Award
This annual award is given to psychology students who have completed an approved draft of their dissertation on topics related to historically underrepresented groups that may include the following issues: increased psychological understanding of ethnic minorities; development of new theories and/or concepts related to ethnic minorities; development of new and creative methodologies that enhance the research on ethnic minorities.

Eligibility Criteria: Current students in the School of Psychology doctoral programs. The committee considers the potential impact of the dissertation on ethnic minority communities, the creativity and clarity of the project, and the appropriateness of the research method.
How to Apply: Send the following no later than Nov. 15th: 1) a 1-2 page abstract that includes the problem, rationale, research method and summary of findings; 2) Two recommendations, one from a PSY Associate Dean and one from your faculty advisor. Finalists may be asked to submit their completed dissertation draft for review by the award committee.

Award Cycle: The award committee makes nominations by December 10th, and the award is formally announced during the Winter session graduation celebration.
