 Application Process For Financial Aid

Step 1: Complete the Financial Aid Checklist for Federal Aid

You begin the process of applying for financial aid by completing the Financial Aid Checklist steps. The process to receive financial aid can take about up to 3 months from the date you first submit your application until your funding arrives at Fielding.

Step 2: Fielding Financial Aid Office Receives Your Documents and Begins Processing

You can verify that the Financial Aid Office has received all of the items on the checklist by checking your My Documents page on WebAdvisor.  It usually takes 3-5 days for most submitted documents to be fully received into the system, and 7-10 days for a FAFSA submission to be received from the Department of Education.

The Financial Aid Office checks your application for accuracy and eligibility for funding, and verifies any information necessary as required by federal regulations. If your application is incomplete or any problems arise, your advisor will contact you. You may have to make corrections to your FAFSA and/or submit supporting data to the Financial Aid office.

Step 3: Fielding Financial Aid Office Awards Aid

Once all of the required documents have been received, the file is placed in the queue to be checked and awarded.  You will be notified by e-mail once an Award Letter is ready for you to view on WebAdvisor.  The Award Letter includes instructions if you wish to reduce or cancel any of your awards.

Step 4: Fielding Financial Aid Office Originates/Certifies Loans

After your award package has been completed, federal student loans are originated with the Department of Education and/or private loans are certified with the lender.

Step 5: Fielding Financial Aid Office Disburses Funds

The anticipated disbursement date for your funds is listed on your Award Letter in WebAdvisor.  At that time, the Financial Aid Office reviews your record for eligibility for funds, based on active enrollment, minimum registered credits, and satisfactory academic progress.  If you are eligible, funds will be disbursed.

Step 6: Fielding Student Accounts Office Processes Payment and Credit Balances

The Student Accounts Office posts the funds to your student account, and applies it to current, eligible charges.  If the funds are in excess of your eligible balance owed, the Student Accounts Office will cut a check for the remaining funds to be mailed to your current address.

Step 7: Renew Your Financial Aid Application - End of Award Period

When you are nearing the end of your award period, you can renew your loan by following the Financial Aid Checklist again.  Your award period is listed on your Award Letter in WebAdvisor.
