Welcome Students to Summer Session 2008
We hope you have a wonderful time in Kansas City. We have a great week for you filled with seminars, workshops and special events.
We begin each day (Monday thru Friday) with anchor groups followed by a community meeting. Then we move into a range of academic, clinical and research seminars, PALs training events, conversation hours, Final Oral Reviews, alumni presentations, and community events.
Here are some highlights of the special events for the week:
- Join your fellow students, alumni and faculty at the Welcome Reception at 7pm on Monday.
- Tuesday evening will spotlight guest presenter Dr. Jon Hubbard who will be speaking at 7:30 p.m. on Integrating Research and Practice to Serve the Psychosocial Needs of Torture Survivors.
- Make sure to attend the Wednesday morning community meeting and participate in the Magic Feet Auction.
- Wednesday evening activities include a film screening of Dr. Jean-Pierre Isbouts documentary Eyewitness to Valkyrie at 5 p.m., followed by the diversity presentation “Hating What You Don’t Know: Dissolving Prejudice Through Cultural Understanding” at 7:30 p.m.
- Friday evening will spotlight guest presenter Glen Aylward, PhD who will be speaking at 5:30 p.m. on the Neurodevelopmental Outcomes of High Risk Infants.
- Another highlight for Friday evening is a Fielding Faculty Panel on “Can Love Last? Relational Approaches to the Fate of Intimacy” beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Be sure to check the catalog for the seminar descriptions and prerequisites before you register for the session. It is also important to check the updates page as we will post any last minute additions and/or changes to the program.
