Welcome

July 2008

Dear Psychology Student,

The School of Psychology Fall Clinical Session 2008 in Baltimore is quickly approaching, and I hope you will take full advantage of the learning opportunities offered there. A major purpose of holding a separate Clinical Session twice each year is to make hands-on psychological assessment training available outside the National Sessions, thus creating space for students to allocate more of their time to the variety of other offerings at National Sessions.

Students who register for the Fall Clinical Session can look forward to an intensive period of hands-on training in Psychological Assessment. The Psychological Assessment Labs (PALs) provide an opportunity for beginning students to develop basic skills in the measures and instruments most preferred by competitive internship sites. For more advanced students, the session offers opportunities to improve and refine assessment skills.

The program content has been designed so that you can take either an introductory or intermediate level lab. Newer students are encouraged to enroll in an introductory sequence. If you have already completed introductory labs, you may repeat labs or enroll at the intermediate level. The labs being offered in Baltimore are Integrated Clinical Interviewing (PSY-581), WAIS-III (PSY-675A), Rorschach Coding Accuracy (PSY-532A), Advanced Report Writing for Comps (PSY-531), and Introduction to Neuropsychological Assessment (PSY-677).

This event is being held at the Sheraton Baltimore North Hotel, which offers an impressive list of amenities, including complimentary high-speed wireless Internet access in both the guest rooms and in all of the meeting spaces. We have reserved a modest number of hotel sleeping rooms based on last year’s attendance, and once these rooms have been taken, reservations are not guaranteed. So please make your reservations early. We are all looking forward to a very exciting Session and hope you will be able to join us in Baltimore.

Sincerely,

Gilbert Reyes, PhD
Associate Dean for Clinical Training
