Information about the conference center, transportation, and lodging options

The Maritime Conference Center is the venue for the Baltimore Research and Practice session. Organized carpools will be available to provide rides from the conference center to the Reese residence and back to lodging for Thursday afternoon and evening activities.  Friday and Saturday workshops will take place at the conference center.

The Maritime Conference Center is located within 4 miles (10 minutes) of BWI Airport and Amtrak Rail stations. Shuttle service is available from/to the airport and rail station, as well as to Light Rail to Baltimore’s Inner Harbor.  Details about the conference center are available on their web site:  http://mccbwi.org/ 

You are responsible for making your own arrangements for lodging and meals.  We will organize carry-out and/or carpooling options for lunch on Friday and Saturday.

Lodging options:

  • Reserve a room at the Maritime Conference Center (price to be announced soon!), including a nice breakfast and dinner buffet (contract price available through 12 Sept. 2017)
  • Breakfast and dinner cannot be excluded from the room rate
  • Friday evening is free to allow for small groups to visit Baltimore’s Inner Harbor
  • You can eat at the Conference Center, then ride Light Rail to the Inner Harbor
  • Other hotels are within approximately a ½ mile walk (moderate hill) and do not include dinner, offering the flexibility to try Baltimore restaurants if you like
