Growing Social Justice: Fielding Faculty Reflections on Scholar-Practitioner Experiences While in Post-Apartheid South Africa

Tuesday, July 15, 6:30pm – 8:30pm

This innovative keynote panel will explore issues related to scholar-practitioner roles and learning opportunities as experienced by three ELC faculty while in post-apartheid South Africa. Each panelist brings a perspective based on his/her study and professional experiences while in South Africa, and the relationship to their work in the United States. Participants will journey with them to Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban and Qua Zulu; and to the historic townships of Guguletu, Soweto, and Lamsa as a part of mind, body, and spirit connections, coupled with resultant social justice scholar-practitioner projects and opportunities.  The keynote is designed to stimulate additional conversations and research relative to international scholar-practitioner opportunities.  The session will include time for the audience to engage panelists and others who have experienced international expanded opportunities abroad.
