Curriculum and Program Dates

August 1, 2008
Dr. Stephen Ruffins will present on Culture and Infancy. Dr. Ruffins will present material related to multicultural aspects of pregnancy, child birth and infancy. Cultural identity impacts on our sense of competency and of well being during these important life events. The profound influences of social location, social class, ethnicity and family dynamics will be explored in this presentation.

Dr. Tiffany Field will present on Perinatal Development. Dr Field will focus on aspects of peri-natal psychological development with an emphasis on issues relating to working with the offspring of depressed mothers. The importance of these issues will be underscored by the presentation of current research in this arena.

August 2, 2008
Dr. Debra Bendell will present on Case Studies in Infancy. Dr. Bendell will present two complex and interesting clinical case studies involving infants and their families. Aspects of maternal DSM-IV-TR diagnostic issues, infant developmental issues, attachment issues and cultural issues will be explored in an interactive presentation.

Dr. Regina Yando will present Mental Disorders of Infancy: History and Current Diagnostic Issues. Dr. Yando will present DSM-IV-TR issues and medical diagnostic issues related to early identification of mental disorders in infancy. Co-morbid aspects of these disorders will be carefully explored in this presentation.
