Program Overview
The Educational Leadership and Change (ELC) doctoral program offers an interdisciplinary, collaborative, customized and networked learning environment dedicated to fostering leadership for positive systemic change in learning systems.

The program is designed to enable teachers, community advocates and educational administrators to work in their respective communities while simultaneously developing new leadership skills and acquiring a postgraduate education. The program allows students to strategically confront the complex realities and challenges facing schools and colleges today and in the future. These educational challenges are examined from a broad-based systems perspective.

Fielding prides itself on being responsive to student initiative and individual needs. In addition, ELC offers a flexible, individually tailored program in which learning is interactive, collaborative and competency based. ELC is grounded in mutual respect among learner, faculty and institution. The program is committed to equity, multicultural awareness and to developing educational leaders who celebrate diversity in their communities.

Concentrations
The EdD curriculum focuses the knowledge and tools to become a leader and change agent in the K-12 learning systems; however, alternative concentration areas are available through which students can specialize in the following areas:

• Community College Leadership & Change Concentration
• Grounded Theory & Grounded Action Concentration
• Leadership of Higher Education Systems Concentration
• Media Studies Concentration

ELC Mission
ELC adheres to the mission of Fielding Graduate University, and as such is dedicated to the creation of an innovative learning environment in which diverse lifelong learners re-conceptualize the academic, professional, and personal skills necessary to inform and impact social justice and positive change in education practice and the workplace.
