About the New Student Orientation - The first steps into the program were most encouraging, giving a body to the abstract ideas and values and commitment of the institution to the radical education experience offered. Our group had an unusual bonding experience and I think that was something that just happened. It is hard to program that level of connection but it happened.

About the Cohort - The cohort gives a real sense of belonging and support.

This is one of the most positive and productive learning environments in which I have been involved. This is a small setting that supports in-depth academic and philosophical discussion. The members are supportive, nurturing and have become good friends.

About My Fielding Experience

My tenure with the Fielding Graduate University has allowed me to share the vision of distance learning more fully. It has given me the opportunity to become a self-paced learner, adjust my lifestyle to accommodate my learning experience, and embark on a venture to deter violence in the schools. My experience as a learner includes every special speckle of knowledge gained to help my practice of educating our youth. My learning has required me to become an action researcher…intense researching, wanting to know, finding the means to know, and generating knowledge so that others will know. To this end, my learning experience has truly been profound. It has lifted my spirit and allowed me to engage in learning that will benefit the entire world. If we are to be successful in the arena of education, we must all take part in changing the way individuals learn. Fielding has taken a gigantic step in this field, by allowing others, and me, to learn independently or collaboratively at a distance. For this, I am grateful.
