The Provost maintains an academic leadership team consisting of the Deans of each School and the Associate Provost for Research & Learning. This team sits on the Academic Council which serves as the leading academic governance body at Fielding. The standing committees forming the academic governance structure of Fielding are: Academic Council: The Academic Council is charged with oversight of the academic mission of the university. Academic Policy: The Academic Policy committee is charged with developing and recommending new or revisions to policy at the university. Academic Honesty: The Academic Honesty committee is charged to receive and evaluate evidence of alleged violations of the Standards of Academic Honesty and to make recommendations for the disposition of cases involving alleged violations. This committee shall also make recommendations to the Provost for changes in standards and procedures, as it deems appropriate. Copyright Issues: The Copyright Issues committee is charged to respond to issues related to the interpretation and application of copyright law that may arise in the conduct of formally approved Fielding activities, in particular as it relates to the distribution of readings and other learning materials. See also Fielding's institutional copyright policy. Exceptional Leave: The Exceptional Leave committee is charged to arbitrate requests for leave beyond the 6 months provided to each student. Fielding Graduate Scholarship: The Fielding Graduate Scholarship committee is charged to review all Scholarship applicants and make scholarship decisions, and notify student recipients, and non-recipients of the funds allocated by Fielding Graduate University for the Scholarship program. Research and Scholarship: The Research and Scholarship committee is charged to facilitate improvements in scholarship and research at Fielding with special attention to research ethics, research training, research support and awards; as well as improvements in the dissertation process. Academic Human Resources: The Academic Human Resources committee is charged to address issues related to development and/or implementation and/or decisions about faculty compensation, faculty-related human resource policies, faculty and student grievances against faculty, administrators, staff and students, faculty evaluation. Institutional Review Board: The Institutional Review Board is charged to review and approve/disapprove proposals to perform research involving live organisms, transcripts, or public records in order to assure ethical conduct. Integrated Sessions: The Integrated Sessions committee is charged with the planning for integration and delivery of Fielding Sessions. Library Advisory: The Library Advisory committee is charged to assess and communicate to Library Services, the needs in present, planned, and developing academic programs that relate to library resources and services with goal of supporting acquisition/elimination of resources and development of student information literacy. Recruitment and Admissions: The Recruitment and Admissions committee is charged to evaluate and manage recruitment and admission goals for each program to ensure meeting budgeted enrollment targets for each program. |
