A past president of the American Group Psychotherapy Association, Dr. Alonso's recent awards include Group Psychologist of the Year from the American Psychological Association (1999) and the prestigious Clifford Barger Award for Excellence in Mentoring from the Harvard Medical School (2000). A prolific contributor to professional journals and edited collections, she authored The Quiet Profession: Supervisors of Psychotherapy (New York: MacMillan, 1985), now considered a classic in the field.
